Learning new things….
It’s amazing how much you can learn from those you have known your entire life. Meet my older sisters, Tina and Kelly, although Tina used to lie and say I was the oldest!
Once in a while we come together to have a sisters weekend. Me and Tina traveled to Kelly’s, who lives in South Georgia, this past weekend to celebrate her birthday. It’s about a 5 1/2 hours drive, maybe 7 if your traveling with Tina who drinks so much water we have to stop every 30 minutes! We weren’t in a hurry so we moseyed along finally making our way.
This weekend, I have learned….. Cheetos go good with wine. I was a little confused by this but Tina and, I’m pretty sure Kelly agreed, that anything cheese goes good with wine!
I also learned, well attempted, to learn a little Spanish from an app Tina showed me. The hardest word I attempted was “mujer” meaning “woman” in English. We laughed until we cried listening to what my mouth spurted out when trying to say this most difficult word! I learned that my brother in law can sleep through anything!
We had a killer brunch with my niece and then did a little shopping. After we were done, I asked all of them what did they learn from their stranger (cashier).
Hannah said she didn’t learn anything, that she doesn’t like to talk.
Kelly learned that if she applied for a Home Goods card that she gets a discount but if she used her card she doesn’t get one. Something else I learned!
Tina learned about weather…. that he was from CT and it is cold there. He asked her how cold it was in the mountains.
I learned that he was from CT, his wife is due to have a baby in 3 weeks and they could not travel to her grandmothers funeral, who had recently passed at 97. He took his lunch break to be with his wife and watch the services with her. And even with all this going on, he was sweet and happy to everyone! Yes, we all had the same cashier!
Although Kelly didn’t learn as much as we did from him, she explained how she loves helping older folks in the store and will help them load their goods in their car. Sometimes, even stalking them and waiting for them to go to their car so she can help.
After shopping at Home Goods, the sisters wanted to go to Goodwill. I did not but thought it would be fun if we each picked out an outfit for each other and model them later. So we each went in our own direction hiding from each other scouting out an outfit.
I learned that Kelly has a lot of faith in me to walk in stilettos without breaking my leg! I learned that Tina looks hot in latex and can walk very well in stilettos, as does Kelly! Me, not so much!
I learned that my great niece thinks my style of clothing includes latex pants! She saw the outfit before it was presented and said….”oh I see! You bought your style!”
I learned from my niece, Casie, how to put a shirt on that has one arm and that it may of actually been a dress! And that my hair will not fade darker because it’s bleached! It will fade lighter. Me and Kelly were stumped on this one for a hot minute. Or three! I learned that being brunette or light brown is just as much fun as being blond!
Tina learned that it only takes bending over to grab or pick up something to make your back go out! Me and Kelly know this all to well. Sending her healing love.
I was reminded of how much I love, respect and adore each of my nieces and sisters including the sister in laws that were unable to join us, Malisha and Rachel A.! I was reminded of how contagious my brother in laws laugh is! All of this, I have always known!
