You’re Flying with me?!

Caleb was sitting a row behind me on the other side, so I was sure to yell over and say hello! I introduced him to Gabby and let him know it was her 21st birthday!

When I walked up to my seat, a young girl, dressed as a flight attendant, asked me if I was sitting there. I said yes, so she scooted out of my way so I could get to the window seat. I said, “you’re flying with me!?!” She was so confused! I laughed and said, “you’re a passenger?” She said, “yes” and we were quick to make conversation.

Gabby, a 21 year old flight attendant, said she wasn’t sure she would make the flight. She only had a small window of time. She is based out of Dayton, OH where she rents a place with other flight attendants but was flying home to New Hampshire. Today is her 21st birthday!!! She is a beautiful girl with natural curly hair, gorgeous features and the prettiest hazel eyes!

Gabby became a flight attendant because she wanted to see if she could handle the schedule of traveling a lot. Her ultimate goal is to become a pilot, which she plans to start after the summer. Sitting in the pit, as part of her training as a flight attendant, reassured her dream! She loves it!!!

When I asked Gabby, what made you the badass you are? She assured me it was her mother because she’s tough and doesn’t take shit from anyone, according to Gabby. Truth be told, she comes from a line of badass women!!! Her mom, aunt and grandmother traveled to the US after being in an immigration camp in Austria for 4 years! The three of them eventually became four when her grandmother had a son. They made their way to Texas when her mother was 18 years old. Her mom left Texas and ended up in New Hampshire where she met Gabby’s dad at a restaurant. They had Gabby and her brother, who is 1 year and 28 days older than her….. Irish twins!

Gabby’s grandfather stayed in Prague and passed away approximately 8 years ago. Since then, her mom has been doing some renovations on his house and apartment there. Gabby has been to Czech many times and loves it! She said it is very different than the states.

I introduced myself and Gabby to James, who was sitting next to Gabby. I mean, it would have been rude not to chat with him for a moment!

The flight was quick and as soon as we were in the air, we were beginning our descent. I wished Gabby a happy badass life, happy birthday again and said my goodbyes to her, James and Caleb.

I waited for Ricky (my new employee) right outside the gate. I really love traveling alone but sometimes it’s nice to have a little help with your bags! He actually has more than me!
