It’s Just me and you Baby!
“It’s just me and you baby!” I said walking up to my seat. There sat a clean cut, young man, casually dressed. As I squeezed into the window seat, I asked my new found friend if he could make sure I didn’t forget my flip flops. I had to take them out of my bag so it would fit in the overhead bin. Of course, he had no clue we were going to be friends but said ok!
John, 35, traveling from Greenville, to New York to Boston (same as me) for a business trip with other colleagues, works for Biotech and has been traveling back and forth for the past 6 weeks.
John was born and raised in Greenville with a sister and a brother. He’s a dad with two girls, a 13 year old from a previous marriage and a 3 year old from his current marriage. He said they are polar opposites. His 13 year old is a sweetheart while his baby has convinced him and his wife that they will not be having any more children!!
I told John I had not had my coffee but when the cart came by, I ordered a mimosa. We agreed the coffee was most likely not very good. I asked him if I could buy him one but he declined, until he saw mine. So I shared and ordered another. We cheered, laughed and kept chatting!
I told him I was worried about making my flight this morning. I was already late, imagine that! And then security decided to take a look in my bag. The nerve of them! They wouldn’t let me bring my pocketknife along with a couple other things I forgot about. Honestly, I’ve packed and unpacked so much trying to prepare that I had no idea it was in there!
Leaving the flight, John handed me my flip flops and bag, we said our goodbyes and I assured him I’d turn around and speak to him on our next flight to Boston.
I finally got some coffee and as I am sitting listening to music, I have been recognized by my new employee who will be traveling with me to Boston. I am ready to get this show on the road!!
*John did not want his picture posted so I am pointing to him. and his name is really Caleb but jokingly, he said call him John in my story which is actually his first name.
