Crash and burn….

Seriously I really wanted to take a nap on my leg from Atlanta to Boston. I honestly thought no one was going to sit next to me but here comes a couple and two kids. They were the last to board. Decky sat next to me. He conversed some with the lady in the row next to us and I figured he was going to ignore me the whole flight, which was fine. I could sleep. We said a few words and all I could see was my next soul shine so the idea of a nap was swept away in the clouds.

I told him I talk a lot. He didn’t seem to excited and was sure to tell me he’d be throwing on a movie and taking a nap. That plan of his crashed and burned when I decided to play solitaire and see if I could beat his score. I did! With his competitive nature, he laughed and said, “we gotta play again!” I won. Again. I’m pretty sure he saw no win in site so we switched games and played Trivia ( he was as bad as me) but we passed a couple of levels eventually loosing. We took a spin at Battleship. That didn’t work out to well so we continued with conversation. I knew he wasn’t getting a nap and I think at this point, so did he!

Decky (his nickname, I didn’t even ask his real name although I googled him! lol) is 48 and not married. All you single ladies! He’s a varsity high school coach in Albany, NY and has a band called Legacy. Legacy Music Group R&B on FB. Check it out! He was traveling with his daughter and grandkids, who I initially thought was his wife and kids! They were visiting his other daughter in Atlanta. He is the dad of 3, a son and two daughters and the granddad of two granddaughters that call him Papa. Although if you counted the girls he has coached and still coaches, he’s dad to many more! Decky loves sports, any sport! and was looking forward to getting home to watch the Cowboys and 49ers. He’s pulling for the Cowboys and I can’t help but watch the game off and on to see if his team wins.

The flight flew by!! It always does when you get caught up in conversation. Decky mentioned how fast the flight had gone. We said our goodbyes with a handshake and he was generous to help me grab my carry on in the overhead. We walked off together and gave each other a hug goodbye.

We landed earlier than scheduled which was super helpful and gave me time to grab a bite to eat and a large coffee which was greatly needed!
